WOSS Dual Olympiad 2021

The WOSS Dual Olympiad is an opportunity for you to become involved in mathematics and/or computer science on an extracurricular basis, at a competitive level. You will be able to work both individually and collaboratively, as well as meet and interact with other students who are as outstanding as you!

Location: White Oaks Secondary School, South Cafeteria

The WOSS Dual Olympiad consists of four rounds:

  1. Mathematics Individual

  2. Mathematics Team

  3. Computer Science Individual
    Junior and Senior Division

You may choose to participate in any or all of the four rounds.

Rules

Rules

  • Teams consist of one to three (1 – 3) students from White Oaks Secondary School

  • Scientific calculators are allowed for all rounds

    • No graphing calculators permitted

  • All submissions will be done electronically; please bring a charged device on the day of the Olympiad

    • Submission for Mathematics Individual, Mathematics Team, and Computer Science Team Rounds will be done through Google Form on your own device

    • Bring a computer for Computer Science Individual Round

      • The CS Individual Round will be using DMOJ; please register if you have not already

  • Tiebreaking for prizes for mathematics will be done fairly based on problem difficulty, calculated as the sum of (problem points) * (100% − (percent of people answered correctly))

  • Tiebreaking for prizes for computer science will be done based on speed
    • ​These are necessary, as there are some limited quantities for prizes​​

       

Format

Mathematics Individual

  • 50 minutes

  • 25 problems

    • Part A: 10 problems, 5 points each

    • Part B: 10 problems, 6 points each

    • Part C: 5 problems, 8 points each

  • Total: out of 150

  • No points for leaving blank

  • No penalty for incorrect answers or guessing

  • Answers are integers from 00 to 99, inclusive

Computer Science Individual

  • 80 minutes

  • 3 problems

    • 50 points for each fully accepted submission

    • Partial points are available for some problems

  • Total: out of 150

  • Unlimited submissions allowed

  • Junior and Senior Divisions

  • Will be run with DMOJ

Mathematics Team

  • 40 minutes

  • 10 problems

    • 4 problems, 5 points each

    • 4 problems, 6 points each

    • 2 problems, 8 points each

  • Total: out of 60

  • No points for leaving blank

  • No penalty for incorrect answers or guessing

  • Answers are integers from 00 to 99, inclusive

Computer Science Team

  • 20 minutes

  • 10 problems​

    • 5–7 points per correct answer to a problem

  • Total: out of 60

  • Theory problems for logic, syntax, and more

  • No points for leaving blank

  • No penalty for incorrect answers or guessing

  • Answers are integers from 00 to 99, inclusive
